I have a card to show you today that I made for my mother to send to her aunt from Gatineau, Quebec.
The card and envelope was bought at Michaels. It is from the Recollections "Value Pack Blank Cards and Envelopes". There are 50 cards and envelopes. I bought the white, vanilla and black.
The card measures 5 in X 6.5 in. The base is black cardstock from my stash and cut at 1/4 in smaller than the card. Then I added a Very Vanilla cardstock from Stampin' Up. I cut and glued a Kraft triangular piece of cardstock on the left side. I added a piece of black satin ribbon from Stampin' Up. The stamp I used is from the "Just Believe" set from Stampin' Up. I stamped the image and the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black. I framed them with Kraft and black cardstock. To finish off the card I added three gems on the upper right corner. I also stamped the image on the envelope.
I finished off the inside because I still had some leftover cardstock. I first layered with the Kraft cardstock and then added two pieces of black. I used a MS border on one of them. I cut out a Spellbinders Nestabilities Label Ten to be able to write a message.

The finished canvasses
I painted the background with an Americana black acrylic paint and the wall paint from Sico called "Faubourg". I painted with the wall color and mixed in the black going diagonally on the canvasses. Then the trees are sculpted with "Liquitex" ceramic stucco from Michaels. When they were dry I painted them with metallic acrylic paint in the bronze and added shades of black. I made the butterflies and the birds, using the technique of burnt paper bag with Aleene's tacky glue. The technique can be found here: http://www.cool2craft.com/burnt-brown-bag-butterfly-box-by-ecoheidi-borchers/ .
Then I added color by using the mini-metallic rub-ons from my stash. I added gems and antennas.
The flowers were white and the leaves were green before I painted and distressed them. Here are the before and after pictures:
. I used Memento Tuxedo Black re-inker and the wall paint "Faubourg" diluted with water in a spray bottle to paint the flowers. I dry brushed the leaves with black paint then used the distress ink black soot to distress the edges. Then I sprayed my home made glimmer mist in silver to had the metallic look.
Next are some pics of the final product.

My First Blog...
Dear crafting bloggers, please bear with me, this is my first blog. I have been reading crafting blogs for a long time now. There are so many talented people out in blogland and I decided it was time for me to start blogging and showing you the things that I create. I am not affiliated with any companies but I buy what I can get my hands on and can afford lol... I have been crafting (scrapbooking) for the past 20 years (since my first born), even when none of these wonderful products that we have today, existed. I would buy cardstock from Michaels on my once a year trips to Toronto and use stickers, ribbons, laces and markers and cut out frames to decorate my pages. They were very simple back then. Today I enjoy creating double page layouts, making cards, decorating tags, creating mini albums and sometimes I make a craft to decorate my home.
I just wanted to show you a picture of two artists' canvasses that I'm in the process of painting and decorating for one of my walls in my dining room.
The trees will be painted in copper and black. Then I'll be glueing leaves, butterflies, birds and flowers.
I'll be posting more pictures of my finished project later on this week.
Have a good day everyone! Till we talk again!
